Shed- Haven't found right inspiration yet...

Time to create a vision board with pics/info & inspiration for our new to us, home-to-be. I've started one on Pinterest. I so Lurv that virtual place!!! My own anywhere binder of inspiration boards for everything I care about or long to get around to one of these days. Need to do some fine tuning/editing since I started it originally for our current home.

The Great Bedroom Swap Part 1

Here's a peek:

Here's a look back at the overall plan for this new series of posts:

Here's C's (eldest DD's) old room nearly emptied (we're converting it into our new master). Bright aqua walls were her signature happy color. Course, now that she's a teen that has changed as well. Sorry about the next set of blurry pics from my phone. It's what I had handy when I remembered to finally take a few shots.
This is the door corner. The room is about 9' at this corner (left of door). Wall to the right of the door angles out.
This is wall to the right of door that angles out. The window wall to right of corner here is about 10' long.
Wall on left side of this corner is wall straight across from door as one enters room. Length of the room from window wall to wall to right of door as you enter is 10.5'.
This is the corner diagonally across from the door corner. Window is off center to the left a bit. There is also a heat vent on the floor along this wall. Not an ideal arrangement for a master bedroom since the window wall will be where the bed sets, but it'll do.

During (not quite an after yet... but a peek at what's coming):
a coat of pale buttery yellow on ceiling (not sure if it's staying, may repaint it to match reverse wainscot & trim)
a coat of primer on the walls (to help the wallpaper adhere properly and cover some of DD's artwork)
a coat of home mixed paint (took 5 quarts - some partials to make a full gallon) reminds me of mud (love paint names, I named it "muddled thinkin" LOL)
a reverse wainscot of "faux tin ceiling tile" wallpaper (@ Home Depot) to help draw the eye up and make the ceilings seem a little taller than they really are all 7 feet 4 inches of them.
modified headboard to bed a bit
moved in our bed & my nightstand and a temporary nightstand for DH
installed new curtain rod (@ Lowe's) & drapery rings (SSC @ Target)
fashioned some drop cloth curtains (need some further tweaking later)
added my old vanity table as a temporary tv console
console doubles as a spot for a lamp near the door
duvet cover, bedskirt & balloon valance (SSC @ Target)

Up and coming master bedroom projects:
-bedside lighting (going for different but complimentary fixtures)
-ceiling fan (we'll add a remote feature since our hold house has quirky wiring issues- not light switch in this room)
-install trim around door
-paint door & trim
-swap door handle
-revamp drop cloth curtains
-wall decor
-lamp revamp
-paint console (will eventually become DD's vanity/desk)
-refinish nightstands
-refinish bed frame
-seasonal switch out (linens/window coverings... maybe some decor/accessories)
-crown moulding
-wainscot trim
-new baseboards
-paint trimwork & reverse wainscot
-mount flatscreen TV
-diy new console table to better fit wall under TV
-pad/slip headboard
-diy nightstand for DH
-rugs (for comfy feet in the a.m. or middle of the night)
-hidden media PC set-up

About Me

My photo
I'm a 30-something, mostly SAHM of 4 (2 DD's and 2 DS's) and DSM to 1 (DSD). I've had a deeply ingrained love & respect for mother nature and most things natural ever since I can remember. In 2003 we were FTHB's of a 1920 cape cod desperately needing TLC. We've been gradually remodeling ever since. I have a mad love of beautifully organized home spaces that are exceptionally functional. I love working with my hands and creating, especially newly repurposed things. My DH may state that I'm a creative force to be reckoned with. I started this blog as a way to chronicle our life as a family and our adventures in home ownership... my musings. I love hanging with my family and friends. Yet I crave slivers of good old fashioned alone time to be still, collect my thoughts and refuel my spirit. Hope you enjoy the snippits of chaos, fleeting moments of sanity... er... insanity. Well whatever it may be, it'll be real.
